It’s done! I love how it turned out! I started with this Blended Granny Lapghan pattern and almost doubled it, making 15 squares instead of 9, and adding a large border between each square and around the outside.
The final pink and gray border is Pattern #5 from Around the Corner Crochet Borders: 150 Colorful, Creative Edging Designs with Charts and Instructions for Turning the Corner Perfectly Every Time by Edie Eckman.
What began as a high school graduation gift for my nephew has turned into present for someone else (who will remain nameless for the moment because I don’t know if she reads this blog or not). So now I have to ship this afghan off (and it will probably cost an arm and a leg in postage, as it’s extremely heavy) and then get busy on the squares for my nephew’s afghan. He graduates the end of this month, so I’m pretty sure I won’t have it done in time, but he likely won’t need it until winter anyway, since it’s already in the 90s in the southeast where he lives!
