David and I visited Tombstone earlier this week to meet a cousin for lunch. This was only my second visit to Tombstone, so I am certainly no expert about the town. But what struck me most this last visit were the incongruities, those things that seemed out of place in a town that strives to recreate the old west. Obviously they are not too concerned about being 100% accurate.
The Silver Nugget Bed & Breakfast, complete with satellite dish!
Have a stagecoach ride through town, but first use the metal steps to get on board!
Old-fashioned sign, referring to a telephone call. I know the phone was invented in the late 1800s, but doubtful that it had arrived in Tombstone at the time Tombstone was famous for the Shoot-Out at the OK Corral.
This feels like one of those Sesame Street “which of these things do not belong” pictures. Where to begin? The air conditioned bus? The steel steps off to the left? The several rubber plastic water hoses?
